Makes the Institute happen.

I’m the founder of Make Happen, where I help creatives stop planning and start doing. I combine 30 years of experience (read “innumerable mistakes”) in video, TV, media, arts and IT with the creative energy and spirit of a Gen Z YouTuber. I’ve produced and directed theatre and films, designed TV graphics at MTV, established the Machine Room theatre in London, founded Screenology (the UK’s most disruptive film school), ran an arts centre in Bath, opened nine artisan glass shops across the South West, and led the growth of dBs Music college in Plymouth.

I left a promising career at a major advertising agency to start an ideas consultancy called Genius (modesty was never my strong suit), then crashed Artolo - a tech startup that had fifteen angel investors believing I’d transform the art world. I’m currently researching a PhD in making mistakes, which my history suggests I’m spectacularly qualified for.

On the MA, I’m the one who’ll tell you your idea is ready before you think it is and push you to get comfortable with the discomfort of making a mess!
